Billy Childish has had a diverse career, presenting work in poetry, music, and film. He also has created many works of art that have appeared in solo and group exhibitions internationally. He will have a new show at Lehmann Maupin in New York starting March 28. The show will feature select oil and charcoal on linen works.

You will notice that the artist tends to favor outdoor scenes. He explains that he was inspired by a work of literature: "I first read Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness in the late 1970’s - it left a lasting impression upon my psyche and writing. The view of river and trees in these paintings, featuring a lone X-craft, are taken from the view from my bedroom window."
