The intention behind the new architecture for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero is different from stadium design in the past. 3DReid and ANDarchitects were chosen to help deliver an original idea from international company AECOM that emphasizes transforming architecture.
The structures will of course accommodate the many spectators to come to the games, however the buildings will be repurposed five to seven years after the event as community-based property with residential, commercial, and office uses. The structures will continue to give back to the community.
