Yesterday, we reported on the sad death of the Monopoly iron piece, only to be met by a new, crowd-voted piece...A CAT! Users voted on which pieces were their favorites, and the least popular were the wheelbarrow and the iron. Unsurprisingly, users voted for a cat as the new addition to the set. Also unsurprising was that the existing Scottie dog piece was the most popular and got 29% of the vote. Are we sensing a trend here? #animals
Eric Nyman, Senior VP and Global Brand Leader for Hasbro Gaming said, "We know that cat lovers around the world will be happy to welcome the new cat token into the Monopoly game. While we're a bit sad to see the iron go, the cat token is a fantastic choice by the fans and we have no doubt it will become just as iconic as the original tokens."
The design of the piece is pretty slick. We'll see you in the games aisle as soon as the cat is released.
