This afternoon in New York City, adidas and Major League Soccer teamed to announce the start of "Jersey Week." Leading to the season kick-off on March 2, the program will unveil new uniforms for each and every team in the league.

Over the last 21 months, adidas has worked to develop new jerseys that improve player appearance and ability while simultaneously offer graphics that are relevant to each individual team. For example, the Portland Timbers secondary kit gives voice to the "Rose City" with red theme and rose thorns outlining the center panel. Each kit has thermal bonded seams, minimizing weight through minimizing stitching.

Eight teams—NY Red Bulls, Portland Timbers, Houston Dynamo, Sporting KC, Colorado Rapids, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Seattle Sounders—will debut new home (primary) kits this season. The Timbers, Dynamo, Rapids,  are  getting a new away (secondary) kit as well, and are also joined by Beckham's former squad, the L.A. Galaxy, and Chivas USA in that privilege. Fresh faced Montreal Impact and the Philadelphia Union aren't missing out on fancy fabrics either—each team is getting a new third kit.

Read on for full previews, and the stories behind each, of the 2013 MLS uniforms.
