As strange as it sounds, textile expert Simon Peers and designer Nicholas Godley have been working on a gorgeous garment made from golden spider silk. Aided by more than 80 assistants, spider handlers and three years of time, the two visionaries produced this stunning embroidered cape with the help of 1.2 million spiders who were harnessed and milked to produce around 100 - 400 yards of golden web. The silk was then hand-twisted together to form reinforced thread before being hand-woven on looms for production. Amazing, isn't it? Hit the thumbs for a closer look at this insane textile in full detail.
