Yesterday, photos of an unseen matte black USC football helmet prototype were leaked by a student assistant at the university. People immediately assumed that these were not only the new helmets, but that they team would be getting new uniforms altogether.
Later in the day, USC announced via their blog that the helmets were "old Nike prototypes, which the Trojans decided not to wear last year." They also noted that, "the current administration has no intentions of making major modifications to the classic cardinal and gold."
While the matte black look got widespread approval online, it looks that idea's been rejected.
