Haunting Imagery From WWII Superimposed Onto Contemporary Photographs

"Ghosts of War".

After purchasing hundreds of old WWII negatives at a flea market, Dutch historian Jo Teeuwissee had the inspiration she needed for Ghosts of War, an ongoing series which pairs her flea market findings with contemporary photographs captured at their initial points of origin. By superimposing the old negatives over a set of new photographs taken at their same locations, the historian was able to resurrect avenues in France and replicate haunting WWII imagery captured in present day.
