PES-Architects won first prize in the 2008 invited international architectural competition for the Wuxi Grand Theatre. Its stunning design is based on accommodating its location on the peninsula in Jiangsu, China on the northern shore area of Taihu Lake. It notably resembles a butterfly, with its eight gigantic roof wings, which protect the building from the sun's heat. The interior's 50 light columns and giant scale give it a majestic appearance.
