Ian Velardi is no longer the new comer on the scene. In fact, whenever discussions of best in show at Capsule came up, Velardi’s name was always on the tip of everyone’s tongues. Why is he so popular with dudes who spend too much time thinking about clothing? It's because he creates COMPLETE collections. Velardi doesn’t fuck around and half step—there are color stories, themes and an insane level of attention to detail and construction. It’s like Velardi created mini-collections within his Spring/Summer offerings. There is whole line of neutrals (think oatmeals, grays and white) combined with camo, florals, blues and olive greens. The camo pattern is one Velardi created himself and features the silhouettes of animals. Absolutely fucking adorable, right? Velardi also showcases both Italian and American tailored gear—the unstructured jackets are all made in Italy, while the heavier, more tailored jackets are made in the USA. Also, Velardi gets an extra thousand points for having a houndstooth jacket. Sidenote, since houndstooth looks like a bunch of ninja stars, can we cut out the middle man and just start calling it “ninja star” from now on? You know you’d rather tweet, “Just robocopped that ill Velardi ninja star jacket."
