Laëtitia Devernay Wins V&A Illustration Award

French artist's book "The Conductor" is declared a delight by the judges.

Judged by fashion designer Orla Kiely, critic Emma Freud, and director of design Moira Gemmill, the annual V&A Illustration Awards celebrates the best published illustration of the last year. For 2012, French artist Laëtitia Devernay has claimed the overall award (as well as best book illustration) for her title The Conductor. The book is a charming tale of an orchestra conductor and his magic baton (which helps him transform a grove of trees into a flock of birds).

You can buy a copy of The Conductor from Chronicle Books. [Creative Review]
