If there's one thing we know about Theophilus London it's that he has great style—we did name him one of the most stylish New Yorkers right now. So it's interesting to see what a dude like him packs for trips, whether it'd be for a show or exclusive events like Kanye West's short-film premiere.
GQ recently caught up with the rapper at Cannes and asked him for his travel fashion advice. Check out what he had to say about his essential things and the worst red-carpet disaster he's seen.
GQ: For a formal event, do you go black tie or bow tie?
Theophilus London: I never go black tie. I never grew up wearing ties or bow ties or anything. So, my tie is substituted for jewelry, tons of gold chains.
GQ: Nice. Are there any women you're looking forward to seeing dressed up here at Cannes. This is a place where actresses have been coming for years.
Theophilus London: Yeah: Milla Jovovich, Kate Moss, Anja Rubik. That's pretty much it.
GQ: How'd you pack for your trip to Cannes?
Theophilus London: I'm on 30-day tour, so I've got two suitcases. For Cannes, though, you definitely want to pack the fabrics that you won't see any sweat. You want to go with some light fabrics. But for me, my look is all around the world. I can't really change for a climate. I've got to be Theophilus London in any weather. So, my shit is just straight up tailored, however I'm feeling at the moment.
GQ: Let's say you're packing your suitcase for the tour, do you have three essential things you always take with you when you're touring and traveling?
Theophilus London: Yeah. I take a hat, some sunglasses, my iPhone. These are Versace sunglasses.
GQ: Have you picked up any clothes in Europe?
Theophilus London: Yeah. I picked up some bootleg Chanel tees! They just have "Chanel" on them.
GQ: What's the worst red-carpet disaster you've seen recently?
Theophilus London: Capris. [shakes his head]
