What It Is: An American maker of quality, affordable knitwear.
Conceived by Bayard Winthrop, former president of bicycle bagmaker Chrome, American Giant is focused on doing one thing, and doing it especially well. Their mission is to bring back American manufacturing, and make it affordable. How do they do this? They sell directly to the consumer. Sure, it kind of sucks to wait to try on a garment, but that’s why they offer free shipping both ways, so if you want to make a return or exchange, it becomes less of a hassle.
From the start, they’ve gotten noticed for their high-quality knitwear, the hoodies and sweatshirts fit slim without being super tight, and are really well made using old-school manufacturing techniques — and they’re well under $100. American Giant also just dropped a line of T-shirts, at around $25-$30 each.
