In Southern California, cruising is a sacred activity. Lowriders, customized with both hydraulics and elaborate paint job, are the mobile temples. The culture that started in cars has transferred its distinct aesthetic to other items too – you see it on bicycles, motorcycles, and even sculptures. The rise of Lowrider culture is a cultural and an artistic phenomenon.
Taking all into account, CRUSIN' CALIFAS at the Oceanside Museum Of Art celebrates "The Art Of Lowriding." Featured artists include Teen Angel, Mike Pickel, Gilbert "Magu" Lujan, Jae Bueno, David Avalos, Bobby Ruiz, El Moises, D.A. Garcia, Victor Cordero, Eddie "Swoopy" Galindo, Aztek, Howard Gribble, Pedro "Rooster" Rayos, Salvador Gonzalez, Ulises Vasquez, Armando Flores, Estevan Oriol and Eriberto Oriol
The exhibition runs through September 30, 2012.
