"Art for Transit" taps Chuck Close to work on subway art.

In 2016, the long-awaited 2nd Avenue Subway will open in NYC, and program "Art for Transit" (part of our Coolest Arts for Transit Projects) has asked Chuck Close to create work for the 86th street station. He's creating 12 pieces on a $1 million budget, as part of a total $5 million budget for transit art across the entire 2nd Avenue line. [12ozprophet]
