Back in 2004, small architecture firm Element Arkitekter AS beat out larger and more reputable companies in a competition for designing a new space in Norway.
The goal? To create a massive conference center as big as the space itself for client Union of Education Norway. Seems like a pretty big project for such a small firm, but Element pulled it off. The building is a zero transmission building and transports "extra" energy to surrounding buildings.
Even cooler, the art on the main facade serves as a protective sun screen.
