Vanessa Prager is one of our favorites. A self-taught painter, this LA-based artist draws from the timeless beauty of 1940s fashions and twists it into a style all her own.

Prager's got two exhibitions on the horizon. First, High Five!! at New Image Art, a group show opening tomorrow and running through May 26, 2012. Here work will be on display alongside pieces by Alia Penner, Ashley Macomber, Curtis Kulig, Deanna Templeton, and Maya Hayuk.

Next month, Prager's solo show The Moon Is Down opens at the Jenkins Johnson Gallery in San Francisco. The Sutter Street space will share both paintings and drawings from May 10 through June 30, 2012.

In advance of the openings, Prager shared some of her new paintings with us. Click the thumbs to check them all out.
