There is more than meets the eye to Eugene Lemay's large scale works. Born in Michigan, Lemay produces layered compositions of digitally altered Hebrew text. Often these reveal fictional landscapes of mountains and valleys. Before life as an artist, Lemay served as a navigator in the Israeli Army. His recollection of aerial strips informs how she now produces shadowy, layered pieces. Also notable is his choice of hanging—the work adheres directly to the gallery wall.
Eugene Lemay: Navigator is on view through April 28, 2012.
