Alex Israel's debut exhibition in New York has everything to do with his opinion of Los Angeles, and more specifically, the innovators that gave LA its reputation for fame, success, and eccentricity. Israel interviews a range of celebrities such as Quincy Jones, Rick Rubin, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Rachel Zoe, asking them odd questions like "In the movie theater, where do you like to sit?" or "What do you order at McDonalds?" In this bizarre, artistic manner that strays from the typical "how you made it" interview format, you learn a ton about the high-profile subjects he's chosen (and perhaps more than you wanted to know).

Visit Asitlays at Reena Spaulings Fine Art (165 E Broadway in NYC) through April 8, 2012, or on the Asitlays YouTube channel. We've posted the Quincy Jones and Rick Rubin interviews below.
