New York City has long been known for its elite fashion, both in the appearance of its citizens and its shopping. Because of this, it only makes sense that three of the nation's most reputable fashion schools are located in the Big Apple. These schools must be gaining even more of a reputation though, as in the last decade at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute, enrollment has spiked a combined 34 percent. Roughly a third of all American fashion students study in New York City, making competition here fierce, but going anywhere else could decrease your chances of being noticed. On a good note, more competition makes for better quality clothes, so expect good things from the next generation of designers. [NY Daily News]
