You'd think a 23-year building process would produce something special. Think again. North Korea's Ryugyong Hotel, rises 105-stories and looks like a rocket ship. Esquire calls it the "worst building in the history of mankind." 

What was meant to celebrate North Korean prosperity now serves only to underline the state's failings. As you can see from the photos, the hotel towers above its surroundings making it a sad reminder of poor design and failed dreams.
