Discovered by Andy Warhol, David LaChapelle has blossomed into one of America's most renowned photographers. He's currently showing in Asia, Europe, and Puerto Rico, and will bring his Earth Laughs In Flowers series to the United States for the first time this month. The important series of ten large-scale photographs was first shown in Hannover, Germany. In it, LaChapelle explores contemporary notions of vanity and fragility through a channeling of Baroque still life painting. With flowers, skulls, and cigarette butts, he creates a disjointed harmony and challenges the traditions of painting.
The exhbition opens on February 23 and runs to March 24, 2012.
