Fair Isle

Gant by Michael Bastian Fair Isle Crewneck, $215

If you read our latest issue, you already know Fair Isle is a trend worth humping. A traditional knitting technique that creates patterns with multiple colors, it takes its name from a tiny island north of Scotland. Traditional patterns only use at most five colors, and usually only use two colors per row. This rendition by designer Michael Bastian takes a cue from Portlandia and puts a bird on it.
