Liyuan Library, located on Beijing's outskirts, was designed by architect Li Xiaodong using firewood. The single story structure houses an innovative stepped shelving system that allows for intimate seating areas. Quiet contemplation is the name of the game, and this library serves up tranquility with terrific grace. A glazed shell is protected by sticks... providing sublime natural light and furthering the calming effects of the interior. [Dezeen]
