Nike announced the “Dark Sun” installation at Bowery Stadium, displaying the works of renowned photographer Ari Marcopoulos and his photography of the New York surf community.
Marcopoulos visited beaches from Montauk to Rockaway, documenting NYC's surf community via different mediums. Blending the unique surf locations with the city's distinct vibe, the black-and-white still photography is somehow simultaneously serene yet vivid.
The opening of photo exhibit “Dark Sun” will be co-hosted by Saturdays Surf on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 7-9pm. There will be a performance by Hanni El Khatib, who also provided music for the “Just Do It” Action Sports campaign this past summer.
Expect to also find a special edition 'zine documenting the "JUST DO IT SUMMER" at tonight's event.
