Chicago-based Dzine, born Carlos Rolon, brings his ghetto baroque art to Berlin for a solo showing at Gestalten Space. The Beautiful Struggle finds at center a work inspired by the artist's residency in Curacao. "Voodoo" is a mixed-media work incorporating the Szwaybar bike. A staple of the region's youth, these bikes are heavily decorated symbols of style and individualism. Complementary photographic works document the power of the bike and the showmanship associated with customization.

The Beautiful Struggle is on view through October 16, 2011. A companion book is also available.

Gestalten Space, Sophie-Gips-Höfe, Sophienstraße 21, 10178 Berlin.
