"I've made some paintings for the show using acrylic on birch panels, specifically Liquitex paint, as I read somewhere that it was the paint favored by the American Pop artists in the 1960s. It's a very vibrant paint, using artificial pigments. The paintings themselves are a curious exercise of randomness and indeterminacy, as the palette I use is so limited. I begin with painting rough blocks in one color, then another, then another. The colors can't touch each other—I have to avoid any kind of checkerboard look."
