BRAND: Deth Killers 2000
SINCE: 2002
HOME BASE: Brooklyn
FOUNDED BY: Jenn Dixon and Greg Minnig
WHY WE COSIGN:Deth Killers came up in the early-2000s NYC T-shirt game, but instead of going the route of guns and rap slogans, the brand went artsy with it. Originally I.C.R. vs. Deth Killers of Bushwick, co-founders Dixon and Minning captured a following of streetwear elite as well as icons like David Bowie, who asked the pair to design his tour costumes in 2003-2004. The duo fell off the planet in 2006 (don't ask) but got it together and are back to launch the new version of Deth Killers for your spendy cotton enjoyment this summer.
The latest Deth Killers collection sees the label teaming up with talented sci-fi artists Manuel Sanjulian, Malcolm McClinton, Wayne Reynolds, Jacobs Charles Deitz, Alan Brooks and Zoltan & Gabor. The Des Kiraz Volume One collection is a run of 2,000 T-shirts featuring war stories and plot lines that range from Monica Lewinsky to 9/11; check the Parallel Universe, where they explain it for themselves. We'll just call it "heavy-metal-biker-turned-space-junky-on-E-with-awesomely-made-sci-fi-illustrations." Cool? Cool.
WHAT'S NEXT: The 5th installation of the series drops in November.
WHERE TO FIND IT: Available in July at Deskiraz.com and Barneys New York in September 2009.
