People Are Bringing Up Lou Williams' Magic City Detour in Response to Atlanta Trade

People are joking about Lou Williams visiting Magic City during the NBA bubble last year after news of him getting traded to the Hawks was announced.

Lou Williams is returning to the scene of the crime that universally earned him the trademark nickname “Lemon Pepper Lou.”

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Clippers traded Williams to the Atlanta Hawks for Rajon Rondo. While the deal gives the Clippers a much needed facilitator in Rondo, the Hawks are tempting fate by allowing Lou Will to be so close to those lemon pepper wings in Magic City, which is about one mile away from the State Farm Arena.

Over the summer last year, the NBA attempted to finish the 2019-20 season in the midst of the pandemic by rounding up a majority of teams and keeping them at the sprawling ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando. In July, Williams was given an excused absence from the campus to tend to a personal matter. While away, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year stopped by Magic City. People only found out about his detour when Jack Harlow posted a photo of himself with Lou Will.

Since the trade was reported, Magic City’s Twitter account hasn’t been shy about celebrating the arrival of a frequent patron and the man behind their “Louwill Lemon Pepper BBQ” wings.

😒 It took the Underground Goat breaking NBA records and scoring over 15,000 points in the league for the Hawks to realize what was good for them.
