We can't wait to drive one in 2016.

Renault and Caterham have been hard at work developing their new joint sports car venture. For a short time it seemed that development would be delayed over design concerns, but Renault has come forward to announce that the Alpine design is “essentially complete.” However, the company’s senior vice president has said that the upcoming Alpine will likely launch as its own brand, instead of wearing a Renault badge.

Caterham has not revealed any more information about its sister-car, but we do know that both designs will be unique and sport different powerplants. The Alpine is estimated to receive a 250-horsepower mill, while the Caterham could produce upwards of 300-horsepower. The image above might not be the final design, but we still can’t wait to drive one of these in 2016.
