Jaguar XK Will End Production in the Summer

We've got that summertime sadness.

Jaguar is very good at making V8-powered ballistic missiles, most notably the new F-Type. But the hot-selling roadster has caused a bit of a rumpus in the Jaguar stable, nearly strangling the life from sales of its big sister, the XK. In a recent report from the UK’s Autocar, it appears Jaguar will shut down XK production by the summer, paving the way for new models.

The recently revealed XE saloon should garner most of the engineering attention, but development of an XK replacement has been hinted. Jaguar design director Ian Callum noted that a new XK would “allow the car to become a bit more special than a GT.” The company is slashing prices on the current XK models, so here’s your shot at a discount factory-fresh Jaaaag. We just hope they give the diabolical XKR-S GT a big discount. Wouldn’t mind one of those.
