The star Philadelphia 76ers rookie has become known for not just being a menace on the court, but also for his robust social media persona. McCain's love of dancing on TikTok when he’s not on the court has led some people to call him “zesty.”
McCain has clearly caught wind of the term, as evidenced by the video. McCain was in Target when he spoke with a young boy who told him, “I know that you’re famous.”
“Yeah, they just call me the ‘Zesty Hooper,’” said McCain. The young fan then backed up McCain by saying what he thinks that he’s good at. “He may be zesty, but that three?” the boy says. “Almost every shot he did in the NBA was threes."
McCain was a sight to behold on the court before a meniscus tear ended his season.
Back in 2023, Complex spoke with McCain about the negative remarks he’s received from trolls for doing what he wants to do. "I like to get manicures and pedicures. I take care of my body," McCain said. "Some of these people hate, I don't know if they do take care of their body... the hate is funny because it's usually grown men most of the time and it's like you're a grown man just hating on a kid."
McCain also spoke on the fame and notoriety that he’s received for becoming a TikTok superstar. "I think my support system and family has helped me to just stay humble," McCain said. "Doing the TikToks and how it became popular or whatever is just another part of my personality."
