A Quarter of Recalled Cars Never Get Fixed

Always have every car you buy checked out, because the person you're buying it from might be a moron.

None

Think of how many cars GM has recalled in the last year: over 20,000,000. Many of these were recalled for flaws which can cause things like the engine, power braking, airbags, and power steering to all turn off at the same time. Statistically speaking, 5,000,000 of those cars will never go in to a dealer to get the free fix to their problems.

Are we, as a nation, really that stupid? Yes, we are.

There are an estimated 36 million cars on the road with open recalls in the USA right now. A big part of this problem is that recall notices only arrive via old-school mail, and a lot of people ignore them, thinking it's spam or a scam, or just never get them. It's probably best to just check online every year or so, just to be sure.
