New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith was arrested in South Beach, Fla. last night. Officers stopped Smith at Fritz's Skate Bike & Surf Shop and discovered he had an outstanding bench warrant for not having a valid driver's license. Details on the reason for the initial stop were not released. He was released on bail early Friday morning.
Smith has been involved in a couple car accidents in the past including one that fatally injured his friend, Andre Bell, in June 2007. Smith pled guilty and served 30 days in jail for reckless driving charges stemming from the June 2007 accident.
