Sixth place is probably where he'll will end his career too. Tris Speaker is in fifth at 3,515 hits, which is 84 more than Jeter. With the Yankees' 3-0 loss today, Jeter only has 46 games left in his regular season career to catch Speaker. Jeter's averaging 1.11 hits per game this season—at that pace, Speaker's record will remain well out of reach.
