After a tough two and a quarter year run as the Oakland Raiders head coach, Dennis Allen has been fired.

In a little over two seasons as the Oakland Raiders head coach, Dennis Allen has failed to meet the team's expectations. And that's why, after posting a 8-28 coaching record, the Raiders have reportedly decided to let Allen go. Last night, rumors were running rampant that the former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator was going to be fired, but nothing ever materialized from it. One day later, it looks like majority owner Mark Davis has fired Allen tonight over the phone, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport

With the Raiders heading into a bye week after their 38-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium in London, they will most likely use the extended period of time to promote either assistant head coach Tony Sparano or offensive coordinator Greg Olson to interim head coach and implement their style into the system.
