Mark Cuban is known as the spirited Dallas Mavericks owner, who attends every game he can, defends his players and coaches to the bitter end and will do whatever it takes to make his team great. With qualities like that, what if, instead of supporting a candidate like Donald Trump, Cuban threw his hat in the ring as a presidential candidate?

CNBC reached out to Cuban to get his thoughts on making a run at the Oval Office in 2016. “I get asked every day. It’s a fun idea to toss around," he said. "If I ran as a Dem, I know I could beat Hillary Clinton. And if it was me vs. Trump, I would crush him. No doubt about it.”

Cuban should put his money where his mouth is and announce his presidential bid. After all, the Republican candidates are already a wacky and crazy bunch. What's another one to add to the party?
