Algeria goalkeeper Rais M'Bolhi did everything he could, but as many teams have already found out, Germany's offense is incredibly difficult to stop. With one save after another, M'Bolhi kept his team alive going into extra time, however, that's when the floodgates opened. First, it was André Schürrle who managed to finish off a slightly short pass from Thomas Müller with a backheel to give the Germans a 1-0 lead.
...but that was all the magic their squad could muster.
With the 2-1 victory, Germany advances to the quarterfinals and will face France on July 4.
