When the bell rings to start the Conor McGregor – Floyd Mayweather fight on the 26th of August, it’s very likely that McGregor is going to be way out of his depth. Boxing experts have been quick to denounce McGregor as a pretender, and someone that won’t be able to keep up with the quick-punching Floyd through the course of 12 rounds. All this noise has done nothing to stop the showman McGregor from stunting at every possible opportunity outside of the ring. The Irishman has garnered a reputation for his ambitious way of promoting his fights and his signature trolling techniques have been in full swing for the best part of past two years.
So Conor has been putting the social media pressure on Floyd, but will it really amount to anything during the fight? How did we actually get to a point where a fight between the GOAT and a first-time boxer is the most anticipated fight of the century?
