The Big House, home to the Michigan Wolverines, has earned its nickname with an official capacity of 109,901. That's why there was speculation that the friendly between Manchester United and Real Madrid held at Michigan Stadium would draw the biggest crowd ever for a soccer game in the United States and, sure enough, it did.
109,318 people watched Man U and Real Madrid kind of play each other, easily breaking the previous record of 94,194 that stood for 20 years. Still, it comes nowhere near the world record of 173,850. It also doesn't touch the record for The Big House, set when 115,109 fans watched the Michigan-Notre-Dame game last fall.
