Herschel Walker is 53-years-old and hasn't played in the NFL since 1997. Still, that didn't stop the freak of nature from telling the Boomer and Carton radio show that he could still suit-up and contribute like the "George Foreman of football."
Mixing no words, the 1982 Heisman Winner (again, 19-fucking-82) told the hosts:
"There is not a doubt in my mind, if I played today, I (could) contribute to a team."
While this sounds like a ridiculous claim it seems as if Walker had put some thought into a return, citing the current culture of running backs sharing the load in the backfield:
"Let me tell you the reason why [I can play]. Running backs today don't play every play. They only play, like, a couple of plays and they go out of the game. I can return kickoffs. I still run very well, like I've always (run). So I know I can be a positive thing."
He then went on to claim that he clocked a 4.3 forty time last year, which is eyebrow raising for anybody who's ever wasted their lives watching the Combine because even college burners rarely touch that type of speed.
When asked why he hasn't simply Brett Favre'd his way back onto an active roster, Walker pointed out his current MMA career:
"I've gotta get out of the fighting first. Once I get out of the MMA stuff, then I may go back and play."
What that means is he'll be at least 54 if he were to ever return.
Later in the day, Walker made his way to an interview with Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones when he told the two hosts that he's played Russian Roulette "more than once" (you should skip to 5:04 if you wish to get right to it):
Your call on which of his two statements is crazier. We're going with the Russian Roulette one NFL return.
