It does not look like USA will be getting Jozy Altidore back, after all. At least, not against Belgium.

The forward trained on his own again yesterday, doing some light jogging while the rest of his teammates worked on actual soccer skills. Given the limited amount of time remaining until the USA’s Round of 16 clash with Belgium (4 PM on Tuesday), it seems likely at this point that Altidore will once again find himself on the bench.

You’ll recall that Altidore was injured in the 21st minute in the opening match against Ghana, going down with what appeared to be a relatively bad hamstring injury. A little over two weeks ago, coach Jurgen Klinsmann said that he was “full of hope” Altidore would be able to return during the tournament, but it won’t be happening on Tuesday.

Guess we’ll just have to wait until the Quarterfinals.
