Four days in, and there have been a lot of crazy moments in London. Abby Wambach caught an eye jammy, gymnastics world champion Jordyn Wieber failed to qualify for the individual all-around final, and Hope Solo got at soccer great Brandi Chastain. With Brazil's men's soccer team playing today, and Michael Phelps entering the pool on his first full day as the most decorated Olympian of all time, we're sure more crazy moments will ensue.
All times listed are Eastern, and the networks are approximate, being that NBC likes to keep changing things up on folks.#cmonson All events can be streamed live at NBCOlympics.com
Women's Beach Volleyball: USA vs Austria
Team(s)/Athlete(s) of Interest: USA
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Station: MSNBC
Why You Should Watch: Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Lee-Walsh Jennings are set to face Austria in their next match. Just coming off her 35th birthday, Misty May is looking to celebrate in style. A win here today would be a good belated birthday present from her partner Kerri.
Boxing: Bantam (56kg/118 lbs)
Team(s)/Athlete(s) of Interest: Oscar Valdez Fierro and Anvar Yunusov
Time: 9:15 a.m.
Station: NBC Sports Network
Why You Should Watch: Mexico's Oscar Valdez Fierro takes on Tajikistan's Anvar Yunusov in this bout. Both fighters are a bit accomplished with Fierro winning bronze in the featherweight division at the World Amateur Championships in 2009, and silver in the bantam weight class at the Pan American Games last year, and Yunsov claiming bronze in bantam at last year's World Championships. These fighters strike with ferocious speeds and with great accuracy, the question is who can land the faster, more accurate punches for a win?
Women's: Basketball: USA vs Turkey
Team(s)/Athlete(s) of Interest: USA
Time: 5:15 p.m. (live) Eastern
Station: NBC Sports Network
Why You Should Watch: Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker, and the rest of Team USA gear up to take on undefeated Turkey. After smacking Angola by 52 on Monday, the Americans will face a tougher opponent in Turkey who does win by sizeable margins as well, beating Angola by 22 and the Czech Republic by 4. Two undefeated teams enter, only one will come out. Will there be an upset, or will the Americans continue their dominant play?
Swimming: Men's 200m Medley
Team(s)/Athlete(s) of Interest: Michael Phelps
Time: 3:30 p.m. (live) Eastern
Station: NBC
Why You Should Watch: After breaking through and winning his first gold medal in the London Games in the 4x200 relay and breaking the total Olympic medal record with 19, Phelps can increase his margin of medal victory in the 200m medley. Sure these are just the semis, but Phelps will be feeling good after getting the monkey which was the medal record off of his back, and will be swimming pressure free, which will likely mean more gold medals coming his way. Keep it locked it see if Phelps can add more gold to his Olympic hardware.
Men's Soccer: Brazil vs New Zealand
Team(s)/Athlete(s) of Interest: Brazil
Time: 9:30 a.m. (live) Eastern
Station: NBC Sports Network
Why You Should Watch: With Spain out of the tournament, Brazil has emerged as a co-favorite to take home their first ever soccer gold (hard to believe, but the Brazilians haven't won the Olympic soccer tourney on either the men's or women's side). This match doesn't have anything riding on it—Brazil is through to the quarters, New Zealand will be watching the rest of the tourney from the Olympic Village—but Brazil will have to shore up its leaky defense if it hopes to get to the medal rounds, and it can start here.
