Nicola Adams Is Turning Pro and She's Going to Make Her Debut on BT Sport on April 8th

Nicola Adams wants to bring women's boxing to the masses.

Nicola Adams is out to make history yet again.

The two-time Olympic champion has confirmed her decision to turn professional, joining Frank Warren's stable of talent, and she'll be making her debut on BT Sport on April 8th.

The 34-year-old became the first ever gold medal winner in Olympic women's boxing in London 2012 and defended her crown four years later. Her long-rumoured transition to professional boxing begins in Manchester Arena on April 8th, before a homecoming fight at Leeds Arena on May 13th.

Irish boxer Katie Taylor turned pro with Eddie Hearn last year.

Nicola Adams' decision to turn pro signals a new era for women's boxing in the UK. At the end of 2016, Eddie Hearn signed Irish amateur boxing superstar Katie Taylor to Matchroom Boxing, making her the first woman in the promotion. She's since had two fights on Sky Sports and won both comfortably.

Nicola Adams could do for boxing what Ronda Rousey did for UFC.
