Cristiano Ronaldo was only recently named as the most charitable athlete on the planet but his random acts of generosity are actually nothing new.
Eleven years ago, the Boxing Day Tsunami killed 280,000 people across south Asia in one of the most devastating natural disasters in history. One survivor, Martunis Ronaldo, was pulled from the rubble wearing a Portgual football shirt when he was only six-years-old.
With his mother and siblings sadly killed in the incident and his hometown wiped out, Martunis' story became the focal point for global grief and it wasn't long before Cristiano Ronaldo took notice – promising to pay for the child's education and a new home via fundraising with the Portuguese FA.
Martunis is actually a professional footballer now.
More than a decade on, Martunis is now 17-years-old and – quite remarkably – plays for Cristiano's old team, Sporting Club de Portugal.
Sporting signed Martunis to their academy earlier this summer and he bumped into his idol at Portugal's training camp ahead of their fixture with France on September 4th.
The prospect proudly posted a snap of the two on Instagram and pledged to see Ronaldo again soon.
