Jerry Jeudy Arrested in Connection to Domestic Violence Investigation, Charged With Criminal Tampering (UPDATE)

Colorado authorities say the 23-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday. He's charged with criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer.

UPDATED 5/31, 5:50 p.m. ET: Jerry Jeudy won’t face criminal charges, NFL.com reports.

A motion was filed by the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s office to dismiss second-degree criminal tampering charges with a domestic violence enhancer against Jeudy.

“When I reviewed the evidence, I felt there was never a crime that had been committed and Jerry should never have been charged,” Jeudy’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, said in a statement.

Jerry Jeudy is now behind bars. 

The Denver Broncos wide receiver was arrested in Colorado on Thursday in connection to a domestic violence situation. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office confirmed the 23-year-old athlete was taken into custody between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and charged with second-degree criminal tampering with a domestic violence enhancer.

Per Colorado law:

A person commits the crime of second degree criminal tampering if he tampers with property of another with intent to cause injury, inconvenience, or annoyance to that person or to another or if he knowingly makes an unauthorized connection with property of a utility.”

Jeudy is now in Arapahoe County jail, and is on a no bond hold.

If convicted of the charge, which is a class 2 misdemeanor, Jeudy will face up to a year in jail and a fine up to $1,000.

Jeudy has been with Broncos since being drafted No. 15 overall in the 2020 draft. After suffering an ankle injury, the former Alabama WR played in only 10 games last season, recording 38 catches for 467 yards and zero touchdowns. He has reportedly attended the team’s offseason program workouts, as well as its voluntary minicamp last month.

A spokesperson for the Broncos told TMZ they are aware of Jeudy’s arrest and “are in the process of gathering more information.”
