During last night's Tigers/Yankees game, Detroit pitcher Joba Chamberlain squared off against his former Yankees teammate Derek Jeter in the top of the 10th inning. And it was anything but an ordinary at-bat for either of the players.

Before Chamberlain threw his first pitch to Jeter, the Yankees shortstop acknowledged his former teammate by tipping his cap. But rather than tipping his cap in response, Chamberlain decided to do something else. He decided to stick his tongue out at Jeter. You can watch him do it in the clip above.

That wasn't the only noteworthy thing about the at-bat, though. After sticking his tongue out at The Captain, Chamberlain then proceeded to accidentally hit Jeter with a pitch. And while it was clear that he didn't do it on purpose, Chamberlain was very upset with himself after the game.

"I never felt worse in my life," he said. "It was awful. I've known Derek a long time and he means a lot to me. With two outs, that was the last thing I wanted to do."

Fortunately, Jeter didn't look like he was too angry with Chamberlain for hitting him. After the Tigers pitcher apologized to him on the field, he nodded and made his way down to first place. But still, what a weird at-bat all around.
