A new HBO series from creator Misha Green backed by Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions and J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot unleashed a teaser trailer on Friday.

Up top, catch a glimpse at Lovecraft Country, which centers on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America. The horror-minded series stars Jonathan Majors, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Wunmi Mosaku, Courtney B. Vance, Michael K. Williams, and more. Look for it on HBO this August.

Lovecraft Country is based on Matt Ruff's book of the same name, which was met with critical acclaim upon its HarperCollins publication back in 2016. Just one year later, news broke that HBO was developing a series adaptation of the hit novel, with Green aboard the project as showrunner.

"When I first read Lovecraft Country I knew it had the potential to be unlike anything else on television," Green said back in 2017 when news of the series was first announced. "Kordan, J.J., Bad Robot, Warner Bros, and HBO are all in the business of pushing the limits when it comes to storytelling, and I am beyond thrilled to be working with them on this project."

Green's previous writing credits include Sons of Anarchy and Heroes. In 2016, she and Joe Pokaski linked up for the WGN America period drama Underground, which centered on the Underground Railroad. The show received widespread critical acclaim during its two-season run.
