We're less than one week away from the NFL Draft, which means rumors are about to start running wild on Twitter. We've already seen some Odell Beckham Jr. trade chatter and now Adam Schefter is reporting that New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is set to skip the team's offseason workout program. Schefter notes that this could mean Adams' name might pop up in trade talks during draft week. If you remember, the Jets almost traded Adams at the deadline last season.
It wouldn't be a shock at all if the Jets moved on from Adams next week and there will surely be plenty of teams interested in his services. Of course, if you trade for Adams, you're going to have to pay him, and yes, he wants the bag. Adams isn't even 25 yet, so that shouldn't be an issue, but it's clear that he's probably not in the Jets future plans.
With the latest trade rumors around Adams, the Complex Sports squad picked out five teams that should trade for Adams right now.
Dallas Cowboys
This is a no-brainer, as the Cowboys have long been linked as a destination for Adams in a trade. They have a need at the position and we know Jerry Jones will always be aggressive in trade talks. It is worth wondering how much money they could afford to give Adams, seeing that they just paid Zeke and Cooper and are still trying to work out a deal with Dak. Can the Cowboys also afford to give Adams big money?
Cleveland Browns
We already mentioned the Odell rumors, which appear to be false, but that shouldn't stop the Browns from upgrading at safety right now. It's a clear hole on the roster and they have the draft capital to pull a deal off. For Adams, this would be a fresh start on a young defense and an up and coming team. However, the question for the Browns is would they be willing to pay big money to Adams when they still have to shell out big contracts for their own guys.
Las Vegas Raiders
If we know anything about the Raiders, we know that they'll always be aggressive in trade talks and adding talent to their team. Defense has a been a big need for them this offseason, but why stop now? Jamal Adams would be an upgrade at the position, but would also solidify the Raiders secondary. And listen, when you have to play Patrick Mahomes twice a year, you can never have enough guys who can hit, tackle, and cover guys in open space.
Baltimore Ravens
How crazy would an Earl Thomas and Jamal Adams secondary be? The Ravens have always been known for their hard-hitting defenses, and Adams would be a perfect player for their system. Who knows if the Ravens would be willing to give up assets to then pay Adams, but this would surely keep them as one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles knew they needed to upgrade their secondary heading into this offseason. That's why they traded for Darius Slay earlier in free agency. However, safety is still a big need for them, and Adams could be the answer. It's unclear how much they'd be willing to give up for Adams, but he'd be a clear upgrade for their roster. Even better for the Eagles is that they could keep him away from the Cowboys.
