The sad reality of the music industry is that if you're a woman, you will come up against salacious rumours and attempts to tarnish your name—especially if you're a woman of colour. According to her new single "Rumours", UK drill upstart Ivorian Doll has endured her share of that poisonous behaviour, but now she's fighting back.

Taking full charge, IVD addresses those rumours and puts the sources of those whispers on blast. Set in a high school, she surrounds herself with her team and rips apart the accusations leveled at her and decimates the men who have disappointed her, all the while dominating T1OTB & DA's eardrum-busting drill production.

Speaking with Complex via email, IVD said: "'Rumours' is about the false accusations that have been spread about me. It was a great way to speak my truth and get people dancing to it, rather than it being this serious, woe is me moment. Not to sound cliché, but most of us have or will have people calling us out on things or situations that haven't happened. When I heard the beat for 'Rumours', my best friend Demmy said it was time for me to address the accusations. I won't lie: I was like to her and Chris, my engineer, 'Do you think people would care?' They replied, 'It doesn't matter! Use this as an opportunity to address the rumours.' So I did, and here we are."
