The 2019 NBA trade deadline wasn’t blockbuster-heavy -- and not nearly as dramatic as 2018, when the Cavs blew up their roster in the name of clinging to LeBron -- but it did feature a number of noteworthy names heading to new teams. Markelle Fultz, Nikola Mirotic, Harrison Barnes, and Iman Shumpert were among those NBA players who changed addresses.
One deadline transaction played a particularly huge role on the upcoming postseason, as the Toronto Raptors sent CJ Miles, Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, and a future second-round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for franchise staple Marc Gasol.
Gasol proved to be a massive offensive upgrade over Valanciunas. Though the vet’s traditional numbers dipped when he went from Memphis to The 6, Gasol’s heady play and spatial awareness proved vital as Kawhi & Co. powered through the playoffs en route to Toronto's first-ever league championship. Without that trade, the 2018-19 season would likely be remembered far differently. Free agency may have looked different, too.
Could we see another title-altering, league-shaping deal this year? What big names could be swapping uniforms?
